2. The door is manually locked
Many doors have a manual lock feature in addition to their automatic functions. If your garage door is manually locked, the remote feature won’t be able to unlock it. Be sure that your door’s manual lock is in the unlocked position to remotely open the door.
3. You need a new battery
It might seem obvious, but this is an easy point to forget. Garage door remotes need power to function properly. If your remote isn’t working, it might simply be time to change the battery.
4. Sensors are misaligned
As we’ve already mentioned, automatic garage doors almost always have sensors as a standard safety feature. If these sensors have somehow become misaligned, they may not be correctly registering that there is no object in the door’s path. 5. Your door’s track may be damaged
Whether it’s from a stray slapshot when practicing in the driveway or an accident when moving a kayak, the track along which your garage door moves can sometimes get damaged. If your door can’t move smoothly along its track, it won’t be able to open or close properly. In these situations, it’s best to contact an expert for help with repairs.
